Exquisite
original watercolours are the specialty of an artist whose botanical
credentials are impeccable yet who can depict New Zealand's native
plants with a contemporary twist.
Having completed two highly successful solo
international shows recently and a number of gallery exhibitions in New
Zealand, Sue Wickison has shown her versatility as an artist as well as
a scientifically exact illustrator. Her current passion is for New
Zealand natives, in particular endangered species, and she hopes that
her focus will help to raise the awareness of their plight in the wild.
Sue spent nine years as a scientific illustrator
with The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and has been elected a member of
the Society of Botanical Artists in Britain. She has worked on projects
in the Solomon Islands, Nepal and Vanuatu and now lives in Wellington,
New Zealand with her family, where she works as an artist and freelance
illustrator (more biography information here).
Sue's work is for sale in a variety of formats: from
original paintings and high quality, limited edition prints through to
a stunning new series of gift cards - click here for details.
In late 2006, Sue held a solo exhibition at New Zealand House in London
and also exhibited paintings of endangered New Zealand natives at the
Royal Horticultural Society's Westminster show, work which won her a
silver award (click here to see artwork: Prints and some originals are still for sale).
Her most recent solo exhibition was in April 2007 at Savill Garden at Windsor
Great Park, England, coinciding with the re-opening of the New Zealand
garden there. Again, the focus was New Zealand natives (Click here to see artwork from this exhibition - prints and a few originals are still for sale).
